Darkfever

Darkfever - Karen Marie Moning This is seriously my all time FAVOURITE series (I've been meaning to write this review FOREVER)...

The first one is this one (Darkfever) and its written from the 1st person POV. It's about a girl called MacKayla Lane (Mac for short) who's older sister is murdered in Ireland and so she goes to Dublin to find/avenge her sister's murder. However, when she gets there she discovers that she can see the Fae, and she's got a very special skill that captures the interest of THE MOST enigmatic man I've EVER seen in written form called Jericho Barrons. When I first read this book, I was super confused because Karen typically only wrote Romance novels (her Highlander series) and so when I was introduced to Barrons, I was really unsure (based of the antagonistic relationship between Mac and Barrons) if there was suppose to actually be a romance between these two characters. This is NOT your typical romance or PNR...this is the beginning of a series of five books and there is not a HEA at the end of each book but holy moly, is this seriously the most rewarding PNR I've EVER read. I literally re-read them so often that I can almost recite pages....yes, that's how nuts I am....

Also, to those that shy away from books like 50 Shades etc, while this series is all about dominant males BUT, even more so than smexy times, it's really all about the heroine's growth and strength as a character developing over this five book span. Which a) makes you love the heroine (even though at first you might have your doubts as she comes off as a ditsy Southern blonde), and b) make the relationship between the hero and the heroine all the most ...what's the word...special... incandescent.

Anyways. Definitely recommend :)
