Anna and the French Kiss

Anna and the French Kiss - Stephanie Perkins Such a great summer-read, chick-lit! I went into reading the novel with slightly raised eyebrows and it completely won me over. I was expecting yet another vapid protagonist and yet another boy-toy, but I'm thrilled to say that it defied my expectations and the novel turned out to be a surprising sweet story. While I think that the relationship between St.Clair and Ellen dragged on too long, I'm not sure how else I'd change it...I liked how Anna and St.Clair became friends and their friendship really fleshed out and explained their relationship to the readers - it didn't just *poof* come out of nowhere. I also really liked Perkins' descriptions of Paris. I had no idea that Paris was cinema central! Next time I'm over there I'll have to make a point of checking out all those cool older theatres :)
Anyways, this is a definite recommend for a summer read or I'm-procrastinating-from-writing-my-essay... ;)
